Each year, from 2010, Escapade sails the 1200 nautical mile journey north from our summer base in Fremantle to Cygnet Bay near Cape Leveque in the pristine waters of Western Australia's Kimberley region for the winter months of May to October.

Cygnet Bay is home to the oldest Australia-owned pearl farm. Established by the Brown family in 1946, the farm now produces around 80,000 pearls a year and is believed to hold the record of producing the largest round cultivated pearl ever!
To learn more about the history and operations of Cygnet Bay Pearls you can listen to this ABC Radio segment.
In 2009, the Brown family decided to open Cygnet Bay Pearls to the public for tours, retail pearl sales and overnight accomodation. Now in 2010, Escapade adds another dimension to Cygnet Bay Pearls' tourism operations by offering an on-the-water experience around the local area and into the remote Kimberley coastline.
Please visit the Cygnet Bay Pearls website for more information on farm tours, the range of accomodation and pearl sales.

Cygnet Bay Pearls is located 200 kms north of Broome, Western Australia, along the Cape Leveque Road, at the top of the Dampier Peninsula. For guests staying at Cape Leveque, it's just a short drive from the Kooljaman resort. If you are travelling from Broome, the drive up the Dampier Peninsula takes around three hours. To fully experience the natural beauty of this region a sail around the waters of Cape Leveque is essential. |
Now you can experience the exhilaration of sailing on Escapade, a world class luxury catamaran, enjoying the natural wonders of the Kimberley coast and encountering the local sea life which includes dolphins, turtles and whales - not to mention sharks and crocodiles! To view some photos of the stunnng Cape Leveque area have a look at our photo gallery.
Just like our Fremantle operations, you can join a group of guests for a daytime or sunset sailing tour or, if you would like Escapade all to yourself, family and friends, we can provide custom Kimberley Cruises for a day or extended private charter so you can experience the spectacular, remote islands and bays of the Kimberley coastline.

The Cygnet Bay Tour adds to your land-based pearl farm tour by seeing the operations on the water where the cultivation and husbandry process happens. And, being on Escapade and viewing the local scenery from the boat is an experience in itself. We operate these one hour tours on an on-demand basis during daylight hours when we are not doing day tours or private charters.
Our Kimberley Sunset Sail from the pearl farm is an excellent way to experience this famous time of day in Australia's North West. Sail along the creeks and bays around the pearl farm and experience the sun setting over the tranquil waters of King Sound where Cygnet Bay is located.
Alternatively, you may wish to try our Local Islands Day Tour where we explore the bays and islands at the southern end of the archipelago to the east of Cape Leveque. Depending on tides and winds, this daytime experience can include Sunday Island which is the largest island at the entrance to King Sound.
Private Boat Charters
On special request, we also offer private charters for daytime or our Buccaneer Archipelago Overnight sailing experiences into The Kimberley coast north of Cygnet Bay and the islands of the Buccaneer Archipelago. Rates for private boat charters vary depending on duration, catering requirements and numbers of guests. |
